Jan 2012 President's Message

January 2012

Dear ISACA® Kettle Moraine members, colleagues and friends,

We are in the midst of some of one of the most remarkable and challenging times in our 30-year history since being founded in 1981. As assurance, governance and security professionals, we are facing increasing risks, shrinking budgets, and accelerated changes in technology, security, standards, compliance, legislation, and threats.

Looking back

To help you to more effectively respond to these challenges and to "do more with less", we offered sessions in the fall of 2011, including:

December: Using Meaning Based Computing to automate regulatory compliance

November: Social media: awareness, audit, assurance

October: Auditing wireless networks

September: Mobility in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape

2012 Programming

Looking ahead to 2012, protecting information requires a more sophisticated approach. We are working hard to deliver current and relevant information to help you stay current with technology, business and related risks and threats, and to help you maintain your professional credentials. We will continue to challenge ourselves to provide top-notch speakers and networking opportunities at our education events, offer additional certification reviews, and continuously improve our www.isaca-km.org website to serve you and the community at large.

We encourage you to take advantage of our upcoming events and provide feedback or ideas to better serve you:

Wednesday - Thursday January 11-12: Securing and Auditing Virtualized Environments (15 credits)

Wednesday, February 15: BCP, ITSCM and DR Awareness, Assurance and Audit Programs

Wednesday, March 14: Business Model for Information Security (BMIS)

Wednesday, April 11: Ethical Hacking: Security Processes and Procedures

Wednesday, May 16 (8:00 - 5:00): GRC Symposium (8 credits)

Volunteering

As always, if you would like to participate as a volunteer and earn CPE credits, please contact me at president@isaca-km.org or call 262.397.6300 and we can discuss the best fit for your involvement.

Job Board postings

The Job Board page of the ISACA Kettle Moraine Chapter is one of the most active pages on our website. It allows member companies to post open positions at no cost. You can leverage this tool to reach out to the large and well-qualified local ISACA member and affiliate base. To post a position, please email Rick Janezic our Marketing and Publications Director with the job description and/or link (if applicable) as well as the effective and expiration dates for your job posting.

Finally, I want to send a special thank you to our current members and welcome our new and transferred members. We appreciate your confidence in us, and our ability to provide value to you and hope that you are finding ISACA membership helpful to your careers and to enhancing IT governance, security, audit and assurance within your organizations.

Happy New Year and thank you for your continued involvement in the Kettle Moraine chapter of ISACA.

Sincerely,

Lynn L. Milner, President, ISACA Kettle Moraine Chapter
